P46 Mrs. Holley Adair, T.J. Making a connection.
ReplyDelete“It was fun being on the lam.”
I can make a connection to this. When were in decathlon, I pulled the trigger on the scanner. As we were walking out of the store, the alarm went off because the barcode wasn;t scanned. That day I never anyone and never will. This is top secret.
Have you ever done this before?
No this never happened to me,but I almost did but good thing my mom reminded me.
DeleteNevaeh Floyd
DeleteI know I’ve never done this sort of action before, anywhere.
I don't understand what you are talking about can you be more specific.
DeleteWell, sort of. When I was in second grade I was at Giant and I wanted to prove to my sister that I was a big boy so I tried to do self checkout. I failed. I am still scarred by that tragic event.
Delete-Grey
No, I would never run. I have things to loose, Bud doesn't.

ReplyDelete“I bet a thousand dollars that there were roaches on the floor of his shed, just waiting to crawl into someone's ear” (Curtis 24).
In this quote Bud thinks cockroaches are going to crawl into his ear. He thinks it is going to be like his friend Bug. Bud thinks that if it happens and screams but the Amos family won't hear him. He feels he will be like the other foster kids they have had like Todd mentioned, but wasn’t very true.
Have you ever worried about bugs and if they are coming to get you?
Nevaeh Floyd
DeleteYes, when we have summer break there are all of these mosquitoes that would fly around my family and I. They are just so annoying and I’m usually worried about having a thousand bites on me before I get back in my house.
Carson Hansen,
DeleteThe one time I worried about bugs was when my mom told me that doctors had pulled a giant spider out of her ear. What made me really worry was that the doctors said that must have gotten in her ear while she was sleeping.
Yes, sometimes I'd feel like a stinkbug is starring at me waiting for an attack. But I can't stand even thinking about grabbing it and throwing it out the window.

ReplyDelete“Being on the lam was a whole lot of fun... for about five minutes.”(Curtis 36)- Vocabulary
So, lam is one of our thirteen vocabulary words in our study guide. Lam means to run away, escape or vanish. It seems as though Bud is happy to be running away. This seems to not bother him until five seconds later. People are sometimes like this when they want to have something to actually enjoy, instead of being sad and bored all the time. “It was a lot later than I’d ever been up before and I was kind of scared of the cops catching me.”(Curtis 37)(Extending the Meaning)
-Would you rather be all alone in a neighborhood running or would you rather have a place to stay where the owners treated you unfairly?
I would be Alone in a Neighborhood

ReplyDeleteRULES AND THINGS NUMBER 83
If an Adult Tells You Not to Worry, and You Weren't Worried Before, You Better Hurry Up and Start 'Cause You're Already Running Late.
Shouldn't you wait for them to tell you the whole thing because then you know what's going on they will look at you weird for looking so worried if you worry before if its good news they'll get it if its bad news but you can worry after the bad news
do you people agree with me?

ReplyDelete“...sneaking along the street like Pretty Boy Floyd.” (Curtis 37)
At first, I did not know what this simile meant. Nor, for that matter, did I know who Pretty Boy Floyd was. Then I took some time to research, and I found out that he was a bank robber. Therefore, Bud was sneaking around looking like a robber.

ReplyDeletëBeing on the Lam was a whole lot of fun… for about five minutes ̈ (Curtis 36)
I think that I can connect here on the term of running. I haven't run away from a foster home before, but just running in general. I think that it is awesome to run, just to feel the wind. After a few minutes or seconds you slow done and it starts to get boring. Making a Connection
Have you ever felt good running, but then it starts to feel boring?

ReplyDelete“Momma wasn’t looking like she has rocks in her jaw…”
He used a metaphor. A metaphor is when you compare things using like or as. It also isn’t literal. They don't really mean what they say. Bud uses a lot of metaphors throughout the story.
What do you think it's like to actually have rocks in your jaw?
