“When I was done I pulled on a chain that made the water come down. The loud noise made me jump back. Man, these inside-the-house outhouses were hard to get used to.(Curtis 186-187) -Characterization(Shock)
Bud seems to know what he is doing. Although he is startled. Bud is probably just starting to warm up to his surrounding’ s. I think he will find more surprises in the area he is at while he tries to understand the new environment. “I washed my hands with running hot water and closed the bathroom door kind of loud”(Curtis 187) (Interpreting/Making a Prediction)
-How would you react if you were in a new environment?
I would try to get used to it and try to figure out what's different and what isn't.

“I bet she got a real good look at my legs” (Curtis 185)
I mean It wouldn’t be that much of a problem because he knows he’s going to be well fed. He also knows Mrs. Thomas would never tease him, because she is almost like a mother to him. He probably knew that, maybe he was just stating she did. It’s not that big of a problem if she did though. He was probably embarrassed if she did.
How would you react if someone you know cares for you saw something you were insecure about? Would you care?
